The Journal of Nutrition and Dietetics (JND) is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal committed to advancing nutrition science, dietetics, and food systems research across Africa and beyond.
Access Policy
The Journal of Nutrition and Dietetics (JND) operates a hybrid access model. Authors may elect open access at the time of acceptance, making their article freely available to all readers under a CC BY-NC 4.0 licence. Articles published under the subscription route remain accessible to subscribers and institutional licensees.
- Open Access articles — freely readable, downloadable, and shareable with attribution. CC BY-NC 4.0 licence applies.
- Subscription articles — abstract freely available; full text requires institutional access or individual subscription. Contact kndijournal@kndi.institute to request access.
Data Availability Policy
Authors must provide a Data Availability Statement indicating whether their research data is:
- Publicly available in a recognized repository (e.g., Dryad, Figshare).
- Available upon request.
- Restricted due to privacy or ethical concerns.

Peer Review Policy
JND follows a double-anonymized peer review process, where both reviewers and authors remain anonymous.
- Editorial Screening (2–4 Weeks): Plagiarism and formatting checks.
- Peer Review (4 Weeks): Two to three expert reviewers evaluate submissions.
- Final Review & Approval (4 Weeks): The Editorial Board and Editor-in-Chief finalize acceptance.
Total Peer Review Process: 12 Weeks (3 Months).
Editorial Policy
- Authorship Transparency: Only significant contributors are listed.
- Conflict of Interest Disclosure: Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose potential biases.
- Ethical Compliance: Research involving human or animal subjects must have ethical approvals.
- Plagiarism Prevention: All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software.
- Retractions & Corrections: Articles may be corrected or retracted if serious issues arise.
