Aims & Scope
The Journal of Nutrition and Dietetics (JND) — ISSN 2415-5195 — is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by the Kenya Nutritionists & Dieticians Institute (KNDI). Founded to advance evidence-based nutrition science in Africa, JND publishes original research, systematic reviews, and short communications relevant to nutritionists, dieticians, public health practitioners, food scientists, and policymakers.
Aims
- Advance scientific knowledge in human nutrition, dietetics, and food systems.
- Serve as the primary publication platform for nutrition research conducted in Kenya and the broader African region.
- Promote evidence-based practice among clinical dieticians and public health nutritionists.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary dialogue between nutrition science, public health, agriculture, and food policy.
- Support early-career researchers by providing rigorous yet accessible peer review.
Scope
JND considers manuscripts addressing, but not limited to, the following topics:
Medical nutrition therapy, therapeutic diets, nutrition support, and dietetic practice in clinical settings.
Population-level nutritional status, national surveys, food security, malnutrition, and nutrition policy.
Nutritional composition, food processing, food safety standards, and functional foods.
Infant feeding, complementary feeding, child growth, and maternal nutrition outcomes.
Dietary patterns, exposure-outcome associations, and nutritional risk factors for chronic disease.
Professional development, competency frameworks, and dietetic education in the African context.
