Submission Guidelines
The Journal of Nutrition & Dietetics (JND) provides a platform for high-quality research submissions in nutrition science, dietetics, and food systems. Authors are encouraged to follow the guidelines outlined below to ensure a smooth submission and review process.
Aims and Scope
JND publishes original research, systematic reviews, and case studies in the following areas:
- Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics
- Public Health Nutrition
- Food Science & Safety
- Nutritional Biochemistry
- Sustainable Diets & Food Security
- Sports & Performance Nutrition
Broad Areas of Submission
JND welcomes contributions in the following categories:
- Original Research Articles
- Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses
- Case Studies and Reports
- Editorials and Commentaries
General Formatting Before Submission
- Manuscripts should be in Microsoft Word format (.docx).
- Use 12-point Times New Roman font, double-spaced.
- Include a structured abstract (max 250 words).
- Follow APA 7th edition referencing style.
How to Prepare Tables, Figures, and Other Elements
- Tables should be created in Word and placed within the manuscript.
- Figures should be submitted in high-resolution (JPEG, PNG, TIFF).
- All images should be labeled appropriately and cited in the text.
Submission Sizes
- Research Articles: Max 7,000 words
- Reviews & Meta-Analyses: Max 8,500 words
- Case Reports: Max 3,500 words
- Editorials & Commentaries: Max 1,500 words
Submission Requirements
Authors should ensure that their submissions adhere to the following guidelines:
- Manuscripts should be original and not under consideration elsewhere.
- All co-authors should approve the final manuscript.
- Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest.
- All research should comply with ethical standards and include necessary approvals.
Article Processing Charge
A publication fee of USD 50 applies upon acceptance of an open-access article. No submission or review fees are charged. Authors from low-income countries may apply for a waiver — see the Article Processing Charges page for details.
Peer Review Timeline
The JND follows a structured peer-review process. For full details see the Peer Review Process page.
- Pre-Review Checks: 2–4 weeks
- Peer Review Process: 4 weeks
- Proofreading and Final Approval: 4 weeks
- Total Submission to Publication Timeline: Approximately 12 weeks
